CD Valet — Privacy Policy
CD Valet respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
- Local Library Data: UPCs you scan, manually entered CDs, and any album metadata or notes you add (stored on your device).
- Optional Profile Data: If you choose to save a local profile, the email address you enter is stored on your device.
- Camera Access (Optional): Used only to scan CD UPC barcodes so albums can be added to your library. You can deny permission and still use non-scan features.
- Barcode Lookup Requests: When you scan a UPC, CD Valet may send that UPC/barcode value to MusicBrainz to retrieve public album metadata such as title, artist, label, release year, and track count.
- Diagnostic Information: CD Valet does not include third-party advertising SDKs. Basic platform logs may exist on your device to help troubleshoot issues, but TixPy does not collect analytics or advertising data from the app.
How We Use Information
- Provide core functionality (scan CD UPCs, add albums to your library, manage your saved collection).
- Retrieve album metadata from MusicBrainz after a UPC scan.
- Improve reliability and support (debug issues, fix bugs).
Sharing
We do not sell your data. CD Valet is local-first; library records and optional profile data stay on your device unless a future version adds sync features with clear notice. UPC/barcode values may be sent to MusicBrainz only to perform album metadata lookup.
Security
CD Valet stores your library locally on your device. If future versions sync data to a server, network communication will use HTTPS/TLS.
Retention
Local library data and optional local profile data remain on your device unless you delete the app or clear data. CD Valet does not maintain a TixPy cloud account or hosted library database for the MVP.
Children's Privacy
CD Valet is intended for individual music collectors and households and is not directed to children under 13.
Your Choices
- Camera Permission: You can deny or revoke camera access in device settings; the app remains functional.
